Giveaways: Tickets to TheMarker Com.Vention

Update [April 27th, 5pm GMT+3]:

Thank you all for commenting and participating. The winners have been notified by email an hour ago. Hope to see you all Sunday.

—–

TheMarker Com.Vention is the prominent internet event in Israel, with known figures from the SU, VC, Marketing, Content and TV, Advertising and Internet industries (local and global) – and I have 10 complimentary tickets (worth ~$100 each) to share with you!

TheMarker Com.Vention

In the spirit of networking and sharing, I’ve decided to do a ‘Pay It Forward‘ kind of thing, and give each ‘winner’ 2 tickets: one for you and the other for someone from your network, whom you met via a social network (facebook/twitter/LinkedIn/Foursquare/etc), that haven’t attended Com.Vention before. So basically, you get to pick a ticket winner.

Here’s what you need to do in order to win a ticket to TheMarker Com.Vention:

  1. Explore your wall/stream and find someone that hasn’t attended Com.Vention yet.
  2. Post a comment to this post (name, email – not public, website), with your name, your friend-from-the-web name and the social match-maker name.
  3. That’s it!

Then, I will cross-reference the names with TheMarker (to verify your friend-from-the-web didn’t attend previously) and research the social network in question (to assess the relationship). First 5 ‘couples’ that will get it right – met via a social network and friend-from-the-web hasn’t attended before, will receive the tickets. Last date to submit entries is Thursday, April 29th at 18:00 Israel time (GMT+3). Winners will be announced here and contacted via email for the logistics, so please watch your typing.

This year there are very interesting panels and sessions: ‘Mobile Internet – Who’s going to benefit most from the boom?’, ‘Life on demand – how consumers are changing the life of E-commerce’, ‘Who will control the content’ and more. Full agenda is available here, speakers list here, twitter tag is #com2010, and facebook page.

See you Sunday!

Social media ROI – IT4 Business Event

Tomorrow will be my last lecture as an IBMer, at the 2009 Israel Chamber of Information System Analysts, at Ramat Gan. Similar to last week’s lecture, I’ll be speaking about social media ROI’s, why should a company consider deploying social media solutions, present some customer references and wrap up with IBM’s own deployment story – all in 30min.. :-))
The presentation (in Hebrew) is already available over at slideshare.
My slot is at 12:30 – see you at the event.

During the presentation I referred to Nielsen’s recent report (March 2009) Global Faces and Networked Places (PDF, 2.1MB), pointing out some of the facts about social media in 2008 and beyond. Definitely worth the read.

Last 2 speaking engagements as an IBMer

I’m not afraid of public speaking, on the contrary – I like it a lot. The interaction with the crowd, the presentations, seeing me on the big screen – all made me quite the popular speaker. Since I’m leaving IBM soon, you’ll have two last chances to catch me speak as an IBMer, this week and the next, about the subject that eludes us all (most of us at least) – Social Media ROI at the business.

The first event is ‘The Enterprise in the Digital Age‘ – a joint IDR (ISV and Developer Relations at IBM) and YCD (ISV) session about internal comm and marketing tools, held this Tuesday, the 17th, at IBM Forum. I’ll be speaking about Social Media ROI, focusing on some customer references of IBM’s Lotus Connections and Lotus Sametime, as well as our own (IBM) internal adoption story. The presentation is already available at slideshare.net.

The second event is The 2009 Israeli Chamber of Information Systems Analysts, to be held next Monday, the 23rd, at Kfar Hamacabia, Ramat Gan. I’ll be speaking around noon about (again) ‘The adoption of social media – enterprise 2.0 style’, providing an overview of the entire web/enterprise 2.0, what solutions are available today – both inside and outside the firewall, and wrapping up with IBM’s adoption of such tools. My presentation will be posted later this week at slideshare.net.

Hope to see you in one (or both) of these upcoming events.

IBM Software Forum – 8 days away…

Just over a week before IBM Software Forum kicks off, we have some 50 people registered – to the Lotus session alone! The other five sessions are filling up quite fast, so it’s best to register now.
You already know what Lotus agenda will look like, but I’m still working on my presentation, the first one of the evening. I have a rough idea what I want to talk about, but in the spirit of collaboration and sharing I thought ‘hey, why not ask the community?‘.

So, this is me, asking you, the community, who will attend IBM Software Forum next Thu., what do you want to hear? what’s interests you? Just comment below, email me dvir at il.ibm.com or send @dvirreznik. I’ll do my best to incorporate your wishes in my presentation.
