Biz Stone is here

By the time my loyal RSS readers will see this, I’ll be on my way to meeting Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter, visiting Israel for a quick 24 hours, keynoting The NETWorking event, the Alumni event of The College of Management (where I did my BA). Although Israel is A Start-Up Nation, it’s not often we get the chance to meet in person (along with 1,200 people) a founder of a service that changed the way we communicate with each other.

Since its creation in 2006, twitter has become a force in the digital world, influencing every industry – from IT, to entertainment and film, sports and news. With Oprah, Ashton and CNN twitter hit mainstream pretty fast, growing at an astonishing rate of 1,400% a year (!). However, 2010 will be a pivotal year in twitter’s life, as the micro-blogging service is trying to monetize on the vast amounts of data it holds, trying to prove that unlike facebook or YouTube – twitter can make money (and much more than $4m).

Biz is holding a closed breakfast for CEOs, graduates of The College of management, followed by a press conference, that should start at 10:45am IST (Israel, GMT+2). The main event will be at the evening, at Hangar 11 in Tel Aviv Harbor, as Biz will be the keynote speaker at the NETWorking event. TheMarker Editor-in-Chief will do a one-on-one interview with Biz afterwards, and a stand-up show with Adir Miller will wrap-up Biz’s 24 hours in Israel.

#bizil is the hashtag for keeping track of Biz’s day in Israel.

Quick update

It’s been a while since I’ve written here, and not due to lack of material, believe me.
I’ve been extremely busy at work (it’s year-end, you know), trying to juggle several things at the same time, prioritizing, learning SP, not to mention the army reserve tour that ‘landed’ on me this month.

Intlock is doing very well, thank you for asking. I’m amazed at the number of requests we receive daily, to either download and install our free edition or demo and trial one of our licensed based editions. We closed couple of major opportunities this month and I’ll write about those soon.

The SharePoint Conference 2009 in Las Vegas last month was awesome – our team literally fell of their feet, after 3 busy days at the Exhibition Hall. Hundreds of customers, business partners, analysts and bloggers visited our booth, and some took home very cool prizes!! Speaking of conferences, I’m working on our 1H 2010 marketing plans, and looking for SharePoint conferences that focus on ECM, KM, WCM, Usage reports and Analytics. The 2 events I know of in 1Q are Microsoft SharePoint Connections 2010 in Amsterdam (January 18-19) and The SharePoint Technology Conference in San Francisco (February 10-12). If you know of any other event worth exhibiting, speaking or just attending – drop me a line.

Raise Your Voice – COP15 Summit

Mizbala are a unique ad agency in the Israeli landscape, for many reasons. Guy and Dori are doing an amazing and innovative work and they’ve turned their little ad agency to a major force in the local and global scene.

Earlier this week Mizbala launched ‘Raise Your Voice‘, the first interactive petition to promote COP15 – the climate change summit, to be held in Copenhagen on Dec. 7th – probably the most important climate change conference of our decade. In the video each viewer can add his/her own input, thus showing their involvement and joining the voices around the world urging global leaders to take action. Start now and Raise Your Voice.

It’s raining men

Started another army reserve duty this week, and I have to ‘thank’ technology for keeping me updated with the world. My DELL XPS and Cellcom HSPA USB Modem are keeping me connected about once a day, with quick ‘refresh’ intervals on my Nokia N95 – I have both my private and work email, as well as twitter, all hooked up in a single device. I’ve written before why the N95 is one of the best smart-phones available today, even without the touchscreen.. still holds.

In any case, I have lots of stuff to do, and little time to complete them, so I’ll leave you with this Geri Halliwell song – fits the current weather conditions we’re experiencing here. Enjoy!
