Nokia N97 Unboxing

Nokia N97Image by suanie via Flickr

Nokia Israel kicked off a unique campaign this week, dubbed The Nokia N97 Unboxing – Online as it happens. During the game, Nokia Israel reps are visiting prominent bloggers bearing a box, that might house the new powerhouse from Nokia. The initiative, in cooperation with Y&R, joins this list (also in Hebrew) of digital marketing campaigns, and is quite welcome I might add.

True to the theme of Online as it happens, each visit is broadcasted live and can be viewed at any time on the site, along with a Google Map widget to show you where the package was last. There are also photos from each visit shared on OVI, for your pleasure. If the N97 is not at the box, the blogger is then asked to pick a name from the list I mentioned earlier – the next candidate who’ll recieve a visit from Nokia Israel folks. Each visit is broadcasted, and publicized by both the blogger and Nokia Israel in the various social media sites. The social features could have been better, focusing on (and showing) more content published by those prominent bloggers, but I guess you can’t have all at once.

Although my name is on that list (it’s a short list.. 😉 I’m still waiting for my surprise visit, all dressed up and ready for my close-up.. In the meantime, check out Ilan Peer unboxing his Nokia N97 box:

Mizbala made the shortlist at Cannes!!!

When ever someone wins something around the world, we (Israelies) are always looking for the Jewish angle, no matter how narrow that angle might be.

Today, there’s no need for that.
Mizbala, a guerrilla marketing agency in Israel, has made it to the short list at Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival !!!

In fact, they made it twice! The first is for this awesome promo campaign for Christina Aguilera’s new perfume, with the coat hangers spread across cities in Israel. The second is part of The Young Lions Film Competition, in cooperation with YouTube, in which contestants were requested to create a video to stop global warming (brief). The winners will be part of YouTube team at the competition.

The second:

Guy, Dori – Mazal Tov!! You make us all (me at least) very proud :-))
Now go grab that Lion!!!!!!!!!!!!

IBM: week in review

It’s been a hectic week, especially the last 2 days, and I had little time to comment about recent IBM/Lotus related events. When I saw this evening that our employee portal (w3 On Demand Workplace) has been updated with Lotus Symphony’s 2008 Product of the Year Award, I knew it was time to post.

Lotus Symphony wins CRN 2008 Product of the Year Award

Lotus Symphony acts much like Microsoft Office, which is good if you are looking for something to replace Office at a fraction of the cost (free!)… The Office 2007 installation here at the Test Center by default saves documents in the Office 97-2003 format (in the interest of backward-compatibility) so there were no problems editing files created in Symphony under Office 2007, or vice versa. The Test Center found Symphony a snap to use, and switching to Symphony after years of using Microsoft Office was painless.

Asteroid hits office building, servers are down
Bilal, my colleague across the pond, has launched (along with the Lotus Foundations team of course) the first ‘official’ IBM viral campaign in recent years (‘The Art of The Sale‘ preceded it, but was more a parody than a solution advertising).

Web Conferencing in the Clouds
After Lotus Notes and Domino have reached the skies, it was only a matter of time before Lotus Sametime will fly high as well. IBM’s award winning IM solution have been sporting a web version for a long time, that only improved with Web Dialogs’ acquisition. Lotus Sametime Unyte now available in version 8.2, with a new distribution partnership to InterCall’s customers around the world.
