New year, new start

Saturday marks the start of the 5770 Jewish Year, Rosh Hashana.
During the last 12 months I left IBM, proposed to my girlfriend, did a short term at Isracard and had 1,000 new followers to my twitter account, among other things… 😉

It has been a great year, filled with tough decisions, happy moments, cool events, meeting awesome people and more, much more.

Next Tuesday, Sep 22nd, I’ll start my new job as VP Sales and Marketing, at a SW company called IntLock, developers of CardioLog – the leading reporting and usage solution for Sharepoint portals. I’m very excited to kick off the new year at a new place, with a talented group of professionals and I can’t wait to start!

For new beginnings – Shana Tova to all  :-))

Dexter – a Killer Rosh Hashana

There are several highlights to my week, one of them has to be watching Dexter.
If you are not familiar with Michael C. Hall‘s incredible performance as a CSI/Killer dude (day/night) – you should be ashamed of yourselves. What are you doing online?!

Efrat was kind enough to send me this hilarious clip, of what Dexter‘s ‘morning routine‘ would be like, if he was a Jew, at Rosh Hashana. Enjoy!

Where did all the Israeli go?

Just to give you an idea of how many working days we have in the month of Tishrei.
Remember that the Jewish calendar (and Hebrew) are written from right to left, so Sunday is on the right, and Saturday is to the left. Since Fri-Sat are the weekend, we have 10 working days.

Which means I’ll be spending a lot of time at home this month…. :-))

A blogger and a Jew meet in Jerusalem…

I have to admit that my knowledge of the local (Israeli) blogging scene is under par, and I’ve been taking measures to amend it. Luckily, I have the right friends, and came across ‘The First International Jewish Bloggers Conference in Jerusalem‘, Wednesday, August 20th, hosted by Nefesh B’Nefesh (‘soul in soul’) organization. There are some great lectures, obviously, but hey, it’s THE place to be Wed. @ 17:00, if you’re a blogger and a jew (sounds like the begining of a joke, but it’s not… ;-).
What’s on the agenda?

  • ‘Meat’ & Greet: Mingle and network with fellow bloggers over a Deli buffet
  • Panel Discussion: Taking Jblogging to the next level: Increasing your readership, reach and influence
  • Comedy performance by FrumSatire: The Rantings of a Frum Yid with a Warped Perspective
  • Branding Israel – From Vision to Reality: Zavi Apfelbaum, Director of Brand Management, Foreign Ministry
  • Building Israel One Post at a TimeOpen Discussion with Blogger Panelists
  • Dessert

  • Thanks to israluv and Miriam Schwab for keeping me in the loop.

    My latest gadget

Since we’re approaching the Jewish High Holidays, it’s only appropriate I’ll have a representation at my messaging platform, aka Lotus Notes 8.0.1. After a short search in Google Gadgets I came across this cool (Israeli) app that adds a Jewish calendar, with all the relevant information I need. Obviously I added a Jewish calendar as a secondary one to my built-in calendar, but the holidays aren’t highlighted like here – it’s always the little things 😉
