The Lotusphere team has updated the website with full sessions’ abstracts. The lectures in each session are also available. Customers have been asking me about Lotusphere since Sep., wanting to know the details, planned announcements, parties, best practices session, workshops, etc. I’m told that registration is beyond expectation, already exceeding last year’s figures.. Hurry up and secure your spot at the largest Lotus and WebSphere Portal event.
See you all in Orlando, January 18th !

I know of at least one party, that will be celebrated throughout the US during Lotusphere…

IBM’s ‘Facebook’

Enterprise social software is gaining momentum in Israel towards the end of 2008, a trend that I believe will become stronger in 1H 2009. In a great timing, just before our KM and Collaboration User Forum, where we’ll demo IBM’s social software solution, TheMarker IT published a great article discussing enterprise 2.0 examples, from Deloitte, IBM and Best Buy.

The implementations vary from one company to the next, but the goals are similar: higher employee retention, knowledge sharing, win young talent, support global operations, shorten development cycles and others.

IBM’s Beehive, is a natural evolution of the company world renowned BluePages solution (employee directory), an inhirint part of IBM Intranet (w3):

“Very early on, we recognized the importance of connecting people within IBM and moving beyond a static view of the individual,” says Jeff Schick, vice president of social software. The heavily used directory includes 450,000 employees and gets 6 million lookups per day.

Although Beehive is still experimental, there are already some 38,000 employees (in just 9 months!) actively using Beehive, with actual benefits:

For Michael Ackerbauer, a manager in the CIO’s office at IBM, the results are already in. He learned about Beehive a year ago, and “I quickly got hooked,” he says, especially since he manages a team of developers who work remotely. “It’s valuable for the team to get to know me on a personal level, and I like to get to know them.”

Jeff Schick, VP, Social Software, IBM SWG, provides an advice for companies looking at social software solutions:

“Knowledge workers today have no time to add new activities to their day; they’re looking for how to work smarter,” Schick says. “Poor user adoption is rarely because users didn’t know how but rather didn’t see why.”

If you RSVPed to our user forum event Sep. 8, you’ll have the opportunity to epxerience Beehive first hand, along with Lotus Connections – IBM’s social software for the enterprise solution, which is based on our internal experience. Seating is limited, so RSVP now.

Collaboration demo at TheMarker Com.Vention

!!!Last minute update!!!

We are going to showcase IBM/Lotus Collaboration solutions (Enterprise 2.0) at the upcoming TheMarker Com.Vention, coming Sunday-Monday, at Avenue, Airport City, Israel.
TheMarker Com.Vention is the largest Internet event in Israel, held by TheMarker.com, the leading IT news publisher in Israel. The speakers list is impressive, and includes, among others:
Craig Newmark (Craig’s list), Peter Hirschberg (Technorati), Rachel Masters (Ning), Jeff Pulver (Pulver Media), Gary Shainberg (BT), David Isenberg (Isen) and Robert Schoble.

Look up the IBM booth at the event, hear our collaboration solutions, watch the demo, set up follow-up meetings and (most important) – play with our Sony PS/3 game consoles.
Alex and myself will share this event – Alex will be on Sunday (day 1) and I will take Monday (day 2). See you at the event.

Free for social networking next Thursday ?

8 days before Enterprise Collaboration and Social Software event (a.k.a LCTY Israel/Lotus Collaboration Event) and tension is rising… our day is coming.. fast…
60 people have registered so far, and our telemarketing guys are doing an excellent job answering calls and telling people what we gonna cover during our event.

3 IBM/Lotus executives will be joining us next week in Israel, meeting customers and business partners, other than speaking at the event:
Alan Lepofsky, Lotus Strategy, SWG – coming all the way from Boston;
Jason Risley, WebSphere Portal Sales Manager for South-West Europe – traveling from Madrid;
and Arjan Radder, Social Software Sales Manager for South-West Europe – from The Netherlands.

We have a full agenda, with business partners showcase, excellent speakers and live demos – but seating is limited… hurry to register. There are couple of ways to do that:

So, what are you doing next Thursday ?

Lotusphere Comes To You – March 20th, Israel

Now it’s official – LCTY Israel will be held on Thursday, March 20th, at IBM Forum Israel.

Unlike the SWG Community Day which we had this week, LCTY is all Lotusphere 2008, for those who couldn’t attend the event in person back in January. LCTY is a worldwide initiative, held in dozens of locations across the world, for most of 1H 2008.

LCTY Israel will focus on Collaboration and Social Networking. We’re aware those two terms may have been worn out by various events and conferences, but that is what Lotus excels in – collaboration. And if you followed the announcements from Lotusphere and the follow up analyst coverage and reports, you know that as well. The agenda is still being built, but we are planning for some major Lotus names to visit, Lotushpere veterans.. IBM researchers from Haifa Research Lab will present and demo some of the innovative collaboration projects they’re working on – which might become Lotus solutions one day. Dogear and its parent solution Lotus Connections are based in part on innovations built at our Research dept., which IBMers are using on a daily basis. It’s gonna be interesting…

If you need additional incentive, read Ed’s post from last year’s event.
So, invitations are being made now – but you can ‘save the date’ right now:
LCTY Israel – Thursday, March 20th, IBM Forum Israel.
