140,000 Lotus Symphony users at IBM

I’ve been using Lotus Symphony for several months now, both for daily use and also part of the development and translation efforts made around the product.

When talking to customers I always mentions numbers, as they provide a better indicator of a product’s success. In IBM’s case, even thou Lotus Notes 7 comes pre-installed on new machines (IBM image), there are over 80,000 employees running Lotus Notes 8.x, while our Domino servers are almost migrated fully to 8.0.1 (8.5 coming next year). There are also 140,000 Symphony users, either on Lotus Notes 8.x or the standalone software.

Impressive adoption!

Integrating Dogear within Google Search Results

Luis Benitez has been posting awesome articles on his blog (Socialize Me) and developerWorks, showcasing how easy Lotus Connections integrates with other collaborative solutions. I also learned recently that Luis was once the EA of Mac Guidera, so Luis’s path to greatness is already paved 😉

After reading Luis’s post about integrating Dogear into Google search results I decided to try it out for myself. Using The Fox for 4 years now, adding Greasemonkey was a piece of cake, and the scrpit was a no brainer (just clicking it :-). The result – now I can see Dogear results (coming from IBM’s internal bookmarking system) alongside Google results (full size image).

Furthermore, it’s good to see my blog post for ‘Extending Lotus Notes 8‘ ranking #2 for this specific search.. Cool !

Twhirl problem – call to the community

Ever since I joined twitter some 8 months ago I’ve been using two tools for updating and checking what’s up: twhirl (desktop) and twibble (Symbian). For the past 2 weeks or so my twhirl client is eager to update to the newer version, 0.8.6, but there’s a problem:

Since then I’ve been trying several things, with help from the community (thanks @naor!), but no success so far. In some stroke of genius I decided to unistall twhirl, thinking this would solve the problem. Again, I was wrong, can’t re-install it, not even earlier versions.
So now, I’m twhirl-less

Tried removing Adobe Air, but it’s not under Add/Remove Programs. Also searched my desktop and found the location of Adobe Air, under Program Files. No uninstaller there as well.

Bottomline:
Any suggestion, advice, idea will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Where did all the Israeli go?

Just to give you an idea of how many working days we have in the month of Tishrei.
Remember that the Jewish calendar (and Hebrew) are written from right to left, so Sunday is on the right, and Saturday is to the left. Since Fri-Sat are the weekend, we have 10 working days.

Which means I’ll be spending a lot of time at home this month…. :-))
